10 Signs to Show that a Former ABVP Activist is Missing the Organization
In ABVP, the belief that transformation of an individual is achievable only through experiencing it, is deeply rooted in the minds of all activists. Small habits which may sound insignificant while learning it turns out to be life-changing after the activist leaves the organization. Every former activist of ABVP is always grateful to the organization for changing his perspective in which he pursued worldly affairs. While the changes that the activist undergoes in the organization is sometimes oblivious to his mind, the experiences are unforgettable. The frequent remembrance of this experiences makes the activist nostalgic about the days spent in the organization.
Here are few signs that may prove that a former ABVP activist is missing the organization badly!
1. Dreaming of the days when you were an activist!
While everyone would remember the moments spent in the organization, some would even have dreams of the days when they were actively involved in the organization. Remembering incidents would bring back the learning, night dreams would put you in situations to witness more thrill and excitement than that were earlier experienced in reality!
2. Euphoria about ABVP Office
Right from the day when we first entered to the last day, we have innumerous memories associated with ABVP office. Some have memories beyond ABVP office to the nearby tea vendors or snacks center! I have heard stories of former activists still standing outside ABVP office for few moments to relive this moment.
3. ABVP’s success is still our personal success!
As former activists, while we may not be now directly involved in day-to-day activities of the organization, we always get a smile when we hear about achievements of the organization. Infact, we try our best to keep a track of activities of the organization through different means from social media to frequently meeting current activists. Some of us may go ahead and provide back-end support to act as catalyst in the journey to success.
4. Eager to meet ABVP activists!
Every new generation of ABVP activists bring in changes, innovation and unique experiences. It's a delight for a former activist to listen to them and provide his inputs. Even though the current and former activists may not have worked together, the love towards the organization makes us compassionate towards the current activists to the extent where their well-being seems to be our natural responsibility!
5. People around become audience to your ABVP stories!
While being in college or roaming around in our locality, we proudly identity ourselves as an ABVP activist. This identification continues in our workplace. A professional could have an adventurous day in his college life to share, but a day to day life of a student activist could be itself can be called a continuous adventure journey. Each time we share it with people around us, each time they get an opportunity to live the same thrill and excitement.
6. Still reading contents of your ABVP diary!
Contributing as a student activist ensures that you are both 'student' and 'activist' all your life. Even after leaving the organization, you are eager to re-learn things through notes of your ABVP diary. A re-visit to the previous learnings ensures that you suffer no deviation from the path that you had chosen.
7. Wish to resume contribution to the organization!
It's impossible to return favour in terms of our development in which the organization had invested a lot. But, the feeling of gratitude towards the organization would urge us to contribute in whichever way possible. Naturally, this contribution would be without expecting anything in return on the same lines on which the organization had contributed in our life.
8. Applying ABVP''s work culture at our workplace!
We proudly say that ours is an unique work culture (karyapadhiti) which is our USP or the inseparable factor which defines us! Our departure from day to day practice of this karyapadhiti would lead to ourselves loosing the strength that we have gained practicing it and the clearity of thoughts which it gave us. Our belief in this work culture and trust in it’s assured results enables us to implement it in our workplace too.
9. Continuous Self-analysis of our success and failure as an activist!
Remembering our success stories brings us immense joy as this were not our personal achievements, but accomplishments as a team. Knowingly or unknowingly, your mind would continuous assess every action of yourself and the people around you, while being in the organization. Recollecting the mistakes, whether deliberately or otherwise would bring us little pain, it will also make us clear while taking future judgements.
10. Wish to be remembered as ‘true karyakarta’
Every activist enriches the organization in a certian way. It is natural for the people of the organization to remember the way in which the activist contributed. But, the only real wish of a former activist is to be remembered as a 'true karyakarta (activist).' For us, there is nothing more than this ultimate identity. It may look like our efforts have moved mountains. But, we truly believe that just the visible small hands were ours, and the invisible gigantic force that actually moved the mountain was of the organization. We still keep promising ourselves that we would be truthful towards the way to become an ideal karyakarta, even after very well knowing that becoming it is impossible!
